What the Looming Port Strike Is Really About (Michelle Malkin)
As I've been reporting over the last year (see full archive links below), the
Big Labor and Occupy goons have long been agitating to shut down the nation's
ports. The "Days of Rage" opened in July and September 2011 in Longview, Wa.,
where ILWU leaders stormed the port, sabotaged rail lines, kidnapped guards,
and dumped grain. The issue? ILWU losing its seven-decade-old grip on West
Coast port operations.(Latest update here.) Occupy-coordinated protests and
vandalism paved the way for the L.A./Long Beach port shutdown earlier this
month, which was led by the ILWU/OWU clerks' union. The issue? Protesting
long-overdue efficiency and modernization measures.
Which bring us to the subject of my column today on the looming East
Coast/Gulf Coast port shutdowns, now making national headlines. You heard it
here first and often. Brace for the next cliff.
