Zoo York Men’s ZYE1027 The Cityscape Custom Square Case Round Dial Watch

$76

It began during the 70′s in New York City with those who lived, breathed and instinctively chose the city itself as their route of life. Within NYC’s miles of streets running east to west and avenues stretching north to south, there is a colorful weave of world heritage, flavored influence and people who each see it differently. Eventually, there was an allurement amongst a few who funneled their creative energy into a movement known as the Soul Artists of Zoo York. Germinating from Riverside Park on the upper west side of Manhattan, this crew built a scene in the north east based on exploring the city with aerosol cans, wheels and the need for freeness in the street. During the 80′s Zoo York was purely a phrase repping NYC’s underground what we today have categorized into graffiti, skating, punk, hip hop and their influenced off shoots. By the time the 90′s came around the name Zoo York became a network of skaters who lived by New York’s evolving hip-hop and graffiti scene kicking off the design and mfg. of relevant product. Today, the Company’s continually growing Zoo Crew includes original NYC graffiti artists, new and old school skateboarders, as well as talent from the worlds of BMX, motocross, surfing and snowboarding. The product line is still a hybrid of military and urban athletic with ties to hip-hop, punk and heritage displays of city imagery.

His nurse, Elizabeth Duckworth, becomes his saving grace — her gentleness, warmth, and compassion bring new vitality to Matthew’s heart.
In the meantime, the effects of the war are too keenly felt throughout Britain. Shortages of food and ramshackle buildings are commonplace as Matthew and the other soldiers return to their homes, families, and workplaces. His mother is suffering due to his father’s illness, and his younger brother, who successfully managed the family farm during the war, resents Matthew, who thinks that he will now comanage the farm. Attempts to carry out his plans to find work have left him frustrated, and Elizabeth becomes his only hope for a happy future. However, Elizabeth, from a less-than-privileged family, is not the woman Matthew’s parents will consent to him marrying, and she has a secret that will inevitably bring horrifying violence to the Wallingham clan.
This wonderful novel again illustrates the enormous talents of Catherine

Floyd Warner, eighty-two, has driven from California to his childhood home in Nebraska in his antique Maxwell coupe. There he confronts the smoldering remains of this late sister”s house and the realization that he is now completely alone. As though in a trance, he sets out once again, this time to find his first adult home, a dusty sheep farm in the southwest, preparing to meet the fate that ultimately awaits him.Of such deceptively simple ingredients is this brilliant portrait of the last hours of an old man”s life composed. Floyd Warner, who first appeared in Fire Sermon, is perhaps the ultimate characterization in the career of a writer who has been called quite simply the best novelist now writing in America (John W. Aldridge).

The hill people and the Mexicans arrived on the same day. It was a Wednesday, early in September 1952. The Cardinals were five games behind the Dodgers with three weeks to go, and the season looked hopeless. The cotton, however, was waist-high to my father, over my head, and he and my grandfather could be heard before supper whispering words that were seldom heard. It could be a good crop. Thus begins the new novel from John Grisham, a story inspired by his own childhood in rural Arkansas. The narrator is a farm boy named Luke Chandler, age seven, who lives in the cotton fields with his parents and grandparents in a little house that’s never been painted. The Chandlers farm eighty acres that they rent, not own, and when the cotton is ready they hire a truckload of Mexicans and a family from the Ozarks to help harvest it. For six weeks they pick cotton, battling the heat, the rain, the fatigue, and, sometimes, each other. As the weeks pass Luke sees and hears things no seven-year-old could possibly be prepared for, and finds himself keeping secrets that not only threaten the crop but will change the lives of the Chandlers forever.A Painted House is a moving story of one boy’s journey from innocence to experience.Letter From John Grisham:Dear Friends:A Painted House is not a legal thriller. A Return to Grandpa’s House: Stories of an American Family

$22.95

In the tradition of A Prairie Home Companion and The Waltons, A Return to Grandpa”s House celebrates the down-home American values of a simpler time: honesty, hard work, and family. Set in rural Minnesota in the 1970s, this heartwarming memoir shares the story of a typical Midwestern family through the childhood memories of Michele L. Larson. At Grandpa and Grandma”s farm, there”s never a shortage of visitors: aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, and plenty of farm animals come and go throughout the year. In the tradition of Thoreau”s Walden, William Paul Winchester offers a chronicle of everyday life on Southwind, his farm of twenty acres. As a subsistence farmer, he builds his own house and barn, puts in a garden and an orchard, acquires a milk cow, and takes up beekeeping. In these pages, we hear his thoughts on such subjects as the weather, seasonal changes, machinery repair, the flora and fauna of the region, and vegetarian cooking. His philosophy, like his lifestyle, is simple, yet profoundly wise.

African Americans of Davidson County

African Americans of Davidson County

$21.99

African Americans were present in Davidson County long before it was officially formed from Rowan County in 1822. The exact time or place of settlement remains in question. They served not only in the stereotypical roles of farm laborers and house slaves but also as skilled traders, blacksmiths, furniture makers, and artisans. From Petersville, Southmont, Thomasville, Midway, Lexington, Belltown, Reeds, Churchland, and tiny areas in between, great men and women found a sense of stability. They made a life out of the scraps that were left behind. This collection of historical photographs is a textured look at African Americans in Davidson County. Images of community notables like A. B. Bingham, Charles England, Rev. A. T. Evans, and Etta Michael White and iconic structures like St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Dunbar High School, and the Hut, these photographs weave together stories that outline the African American journey.

In a seemingly random event, forensic anthropologist Lindsay Chamberlain is attacked and left for dead. Buried in a shallow grave in the woods, she manages to escape, although she suffers from loss of memory as a result of the ordeal. When Lindsay’s memory returns, it is incomplete. She copes with the trauma by ignoring it, and she allows the authorities to handle the investigation. As the probe quickly comes to a dead end, however, the assault looms like a dark cloud over her peace of mind.Lindsay joins excavations at an 1830s farm site on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Unlike previous digs where Lindsay has worked, this site is an unhappy one. Crew members are on edge and argue among themselves, and the site director takes an instant dislike to Lindsay. Furthermore, the principal investigator is under suspicion of murdering a local resident and stealing valuable papers from her. If that weren’t enough, Lindsay and the crew are lodged in a haunted house, and even though she is the only crew member who doesn’t believe in ghosts, she is the only one who sees them. When very old sealed lead coffins dating from the 1700s are discovered, Lindsay becomes so excited with the discovery that she momentarily forgets her own troubles. However, her relief is short-lived, for inside one of the coffins are the disturbing remains of a woman who has something frighteningly in common with Lindsay. Then when one of the crew disappears, no one but Lindsay is worried or seems to care. If she doesn’t figure out what’s happening around her, she might lose her sanity, or worse, her life.

Railroads of Dubuque

Railroads of Dubuque

$21.99

The city of Dubuque, settled on the west side of the Mississippi River in 1833, has historically been home to four major railways and numerous trolleys and passenger trains. Dubuque’s railroad legacy was precipitated by local resident John Plumbe Jr., the Father of the Transcontinental Railroad, who proposed a transcontinental railroad in 1838 and promoted the idea throughout the Midwest. The Illinois Central Railroad first reached the east bank of the Mississippi in 1855, followed by the Milwaukee Road, the Chicago and Great Western, and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroads. This book uses rare photographs and historical text to chronicle the development and heyday of these four pioneering railways, as well as Dubuque’s many trolleys and its two funicular railroads. While the glory days of Dubuque’s railroads may have passed, the legacy they brought to the city lives on, and is evident in the Fourth Street Elevator, which remains the world’s shortest, steepest railroad.
